You know about beer... But have you really mastered the art of tasting it? Do you know how they’re made? Their history? Time for a fresh outlook of this UNESCO Intangible World cultural heritage - you’ll be surprised!
For the occasion, Christophe Dubois will come to your holiday home to pay you a visit. His sixteen years of experience in both the Belgian brewing world, and also as an amateur brewer, have made him a renowned zythologist. But what is ‘zythology’? I'm sure you’ve figured it out by now - it's the study of beer, in all its forms. And there’s a lot to learn about: the five basic ingredients, the olfactory and aromatic characteristics, the terminology, the grains and herbs, the brewing process, the fermentation process, the flow, the pressure, the temperature... You’ll learn all about beer and its many secrets.
And what’s on the menu? A selection of eight Belgian specialties from famous Belgian breweries. Will you be able to pick up on all the nuances and subtleties? Your teacher of the day will taste them alongside you, and this progressive and detailed taster session will be backed up with juicy anecdotes and some great advice, such as the art of pairing beer with food, so you can take what you learnt and apply it when you get back home. Speaking of flavours, how about this: as a lucky Ardennes-étape member, you’ll also get to try a cheese which pairs perfectly with one of the beers you’ll get when taking part in this activity. For a moment of pure pleasure...
