Cugnon is part of the municipality of Bertrix, deep in the south of the Belgian Ardennes in the province of Luxembourg. The little village is divided by the river Semois: hence there are plenty of possibilities to enjoy the water, for example while kayaking. A few kilometres south you get to the French border and the delightful town of Bouillon is only a 20 minutes' drive from Cugnon.

Bertrix is a little place in the province of Luxembourg, just a few kilometres from Bouillon in the Belgian Ardennes . It is surrounded by the beautiful forests of the south of Belgium, close to the French border. This makes it the perfect spot for adventurous sports, extensive hikes and just enjoying the scenery. Furthermore, Bertrix is just 45 minutes away from Rochefort , another delightful Ardennes city.

Herbeumont is a great holiday destination for everyone who loves hiking. This small place in the province of Luxembourg is located a few kilometres from the French border. The ruins of the Herbeumont castle are classified as Walloon heritage. And it deserves this certificate. Furthermore, Bouillon is online a half an hour's drive away, another city with a rich history.

Ardennes-Etape suggests:

The equestrian centre that is situated at Cugnon at only 10 minutes from Bouillon, proposes horseback rides for everyone as from 12 years old. Cécile Decamps and her husband Michel Bouvy put together tailor-made programs in function of your level and your wishes.

Getting on the back of a donkey (freely or accompanied) will definitely take your walk to a new level, especially for the kids. The donkey is not only a true hiking companion but also a carrier of dreams and luggage.

Cap Nature organises exciting outdoor activities in the Belgian Ardennes . A wide range of activities, some more adventurous than others, like kayaking, mountain biking, abseiling, adventure trails,...

Through videos and slideshows on giant screens, animated models of the fortress and fascinating voices and music, you will relive the great adventure of the Crusades at the Archeoscope Godfrey of Bouillon .

The animal park of Bouillon was founded in 1989 with the purpose of improving contact between man and nature. All generations get the chance to (re)discover the rich fauna and flora the Belgian Ardennes has to offer. Animals live in semi-liberty.

The Bouillon Castle looks out over the town and provides lots of information on feudal life . Its remains are very impressive and so is the panoramic view . Many activities, like medieval parties, falconry shows, take place on the site.

Kayaking on the river Semois in the Bouillon area is the ideal way to get to know the Belgian Ardennes from another perspective. Kayak Les Epinoches offers single-seater and multi-seater kayaks and canoes.

Zo hadden we altijd schaduw.

A recommander +++

The property is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by fields and pine trees. Views over the valley are very nice and one could watch incredible sunsets on the hills, when weather permits. The house was well maintained and very functional. We valued the privacy and the calm of the place. The village is at a high altitude (therefore the views) so a walk to the river can be long and steep (but it's a 3min drive). Mr Jacques, the owner, was great and gave us a very warm welcome.
