The slate quarry and the Recht bluestone museum: jewels of the industrial heritage of the Cantons de l’Est.
You’ll start your visit with a film about the region’s geological and mineralogical history. Then travel through 800 metres of tunnels underground, in search of the majestic blue rock and the extraction rooms. An audio guide will be given to you. It’ll tell you everything about the gruelling and dangerous work the miners did underground.
The museum will teach you about the difficult job of carving the stone, as well as showing you the impressive tools used to do so.
Got your walking shoes on? Then follow the Blausteinroute: this walk starts at the mine, and along it you’ll see the region’s other mines and sources.
